Helen Ladewig

Helen is our Superhero Librarianista (i.e. Training Manager). Helen has over 11 years of industry experience working in a number of different types of libraries. She also has extensive expertise in library training, including the writing of advanced Learning Guides and Assessments. She has the rare ability to take complex topics, and simplify them into digestible bites, with patience and warmth. Helen is passionate about enabling and supporting the interest of life-long education and self-development in her students. She manages the training and assessment components of the course, inducts students into their chosen study, and supports them throughout their course of study from a theoretical and practical perspective. She is passionate about exploring the new frontiers of technology and how they impact and engage with the Library and Information Services sector. She has a passion for reading (novels, ancient history and science), aircraft (she was even a Flight Service Officer in Operational Air Traffic Services!) and believes that dark chocolate is the thing that makes life simply perfect. Helen loves libraries because they are a portal to another world where anything is possible. Her favourite adult book is London, by Edward Rutherfurd and her favourite children’s book is Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy, by Lynley Dodd.
